On June 22, 2020, In a digital e-governance push, the Minister of State for Shipping (Independent charge) and Chemicals & Fertilisers Shri Mansukh Mandaviya has launched webinar of India’s first 5-day long virtual exhibition and conference, ‘Virtual Healthcare and Hygiene Expo 2020’ (VHHE), organised by FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry)and supported by Ministry of AYUSH(Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), Govt of India(GoI).
- The event, live daily from 22nd to 26th June 2020 with the participation of over 1,000 international buyers from 120 countries with 147 exhibitors, was meant to create a self-reliant ecosystem in the Pharmaceuticals and Health & Hygiene Sector by increasing domestic production.
Focus of the Exhibition:
The key focus sectors of the exhibition include- (i) AYUSH & Wellness (ii) Pharmaceuticals (iii) Medical Devices (iv) Medical Textile & Consumables (v) Hygiene & Sanitisation.

Various initiatives of Central Government:
According to Mandaviya, various initiatives has been launched in Health, hygiene and sanitation sector by the prime minister Narendra Modi since 2014 such as Ayushman Bharat scheme (which covers 10 crore family for healthcare), Swatch Bharat Abhiyan, Suvidha Sanitary Napkin & Jan Aushadhi stores which were providing quality medicines at affordable rate for everyone while reiterating about the government policy for setting up of Bulk Drug Park and Medical Device Park in India.
