SBI PO Syllabus

Dear Readers, State Bank of India(SBI) conducts Probationary Officer exam every year for eligible candidates. Now from 2015 onwards, State Bank of India has changed the exam pattern of Probationary Officer exam. As per the SBI PO 2015 notification, new pattern will have two – tier examinations Prelim & Main exam.

The exam will be held in Three phases.

Phase I (Preliminary Exam): 100 Marks Time Duration: 1 Hour
Phase II (Main Exam): 250 Marks(200 Marks objective + 50 Marks descriptive) Time Duration: 2 Hour
Phase III: 50 Marks

Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing passing marks to be decided by the Bank. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by the Bank (approximately 20 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be short listed for the Main Examination.

SBI PO Syllabus for Prelim Exam 2015

English Language:
In English Language section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Spotting Error
  • Fill in the blank
  • Cloze test
  • Para-Jumbles

Quantitative Aptitude:
In Quant section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:

  • Number Series
  • Simplification
  • Average
  • Profit & Loss
  • Time & Work
  • Time & Distance
  • Partnership
  • Ratio & Proportion
  • Problem on Ages

Note: One or two sets of Data Interpretation type questions may ask in Prelim exam. – These questions cover different forms of D.I. based on Tables, Pie – Charts, Bar Graphs, etc.

Reasoning:
In Reasoning section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows

  • Syllogism
  • Seating Arrangement – Circular table and Line (North & South)
  • Puzzle
  • Blood Relation
  • Inequality
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Input Output

1. English Language: Level [ Difficulty – Moderate ]
In English Language section questions are asked from different topics which are as follows:

  • Reading Comprehension – According to the previous year question paper there were two Reading Comprehensions.

  • Cloze test
  • Para-Jumbles

2. General Awareness/Marketing/Computer: Level [ Difficulty to Easy ]

i. General Awareness:

  • News related to Reserve Bank of India
  • Banking Awareness
  • Financial Awareness (Union Budget/ Railway Budget)

Phase III:

It will consist of Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)

Note: The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. For each wrong answers, there will be a negative marking of 1/4 marks in both prelim and main examination.

Final Selection: The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for the selection and only the marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II) will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview (Phase-III) for preparation of the final merit list.
