Hello Readers
SBI PO Prelim 2016 is just a month away. You must all be preparing hard for the exam. Like last year, this year also the written exam will be held in 2 phases: Prelim and Main Exam.
For the pattern and syllabus of exam, follow the link:
Last year the Prelim Exam held on June 20, June 21, June 27 and June 28. Based on the whole analysis of last year, we are presenting you with the pattern of questions asked in SBI PO Prelim 2015 Exam.
In the tables given below, by Easy to Moderate we mean that some questions were easy and some were moderate in these topics.
Quant section:
Topics | No. of Questions | Difficulty Level |
Simplification | 5 | Easy |
Numeric Series | 5 | Easy to Moderate |
Quadratic Equations | 5 | Easy |
Data Interpretation | 2 sets (10 questions) | Moderate |
Miscellaneous (Time & Work, SI/CI, Profit/Loss, Ratio, Ages, Partnership, Mixtures, etc.) | 10 | Easy to Moderate |
In Data Interpretation, One set was having normal questions, and the other was a missing DI which is generally a table based DI and some fields are missing in that table and you have to fill values in those fields based on given information.
Though missing DI can be asked this year also, but it is not necessary. IBPS may come up with any other type of questions for SBI PO this time to make you get panic at the time of exam. But need not worry; one should be ready to face any type of questions in the exam.
Reasoning:
Topics | No. of Questions | Difficulty Level |
Inequalities | 5 | Easy |
Syllogism | 5 | Moderate |
Coding & Decoding | 5 | Easy |
Sitting Arrangement | 5 | Moderate |
Puzzles | 2 sets (10 questions) | Difficult |
Miscellaneous (Blood relation, Direction sence, ranking, etc.) | 5 | Moderate |
In Puzzles part, complex puzzles were asked. One was like – a linear arrangement in which you have to arrange the given things according to the 12 months. Even sometimes it is difficult to solve the puzzles with 7 week days, so you can imagine the puzzle with the number 12.
English:
Topics | No. of Questions | Difficulty Level |
Reading Comprehension | 10 | Moderate to Difficult |
Fillers (2 blanks) | 5 | Easy to Moderate |
Para Jumbled Sentences | 5 | Moderate |
Error Finding | 5 | Easy |
Cloze Test | 5 | Easy to Moderate |
Only the RC section was somewhat difficult, but one can chose to leave it and attempting only the synonyms and antonyms.
So this was the complete analysis of SBI PO Prelim 2015 Exam. We can expect the same pattern this time also with a little change.
Now let us look at the previous year’s sectional and overall cutoff for SBI PO Prelim Exam:
Sectional Cutoffs:
Subject | Total Marks | Minimum Qualifying Marks | |
 |  | SC/ST/OBC/VH/OH | General |
English | 30 | 3.25 | 5.75 |
Quant | 35 | 3.5 | 5.75 |
Reasoning | 35 | 5.75 | 9.25 |
Overall Cutoff:
