The Government of India has appointed AS Kiran Kumar as the new secretary of the Dept of Space and also the Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He was the director of Satellite Application Centre and joined ISRO in 1975. He played a key role in India’s Mars Orbiter Mission which entered the Martian orbit successfully.
Kiran Kumar also played a major role in the design and development of Electro-Optical Imaging Sensors for Airborne, LEO and GEO platform based imaging sensors. He succeeds Radhakrishnan K as the eighth chief of the prestigious ISRO.
