RIL tops Fortune 500 list of Indian companiesOn December 2, 2020 Fortune India announced the 2020 Fortune 500 Ranking List of Indian companies . The list is topped by Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) with revenue of Rs 615,854.00 crore, accounting for 7% of cumulative revenues and 11% profit of the companies featured. RIL retains the top rank  for the 2nd time.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.(IOCL) secured 2nd rank with revenue of Rs 493,932.99 crore followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation with revenue of Rs 405,243.31 crore.

Note

The Fortune India 500 list is prepared based on the revenue and the figures of 2020 is pertains to fiscal year 2019-2020.

Highlights of the List:

i.State Bank of India-SBI is ranked in 4th spot with revenue of Rs 368,010.65 crore, followed by Bharat Petroleum Corporation(Rs 288,974.97 crore revenue) and Tata Motors(Rs 261,875.55 crore revenue).

ii.7th spot is secured by Rajesh Exports with Rs 195,607.23 crore revenue, followed by Tata Consultancy Services(Rs 161,541.00 crore revenue) and ICICI Bank (Rs 149,786.10 crore revenue).

iii.Larsen & Toubro-L&T with Rs 147,820.13 crore revenue, secures the 10th rank.

Revenues

  • The list includes 38 companies with revenues of over Rs 50,000 crore each, accounting for almost 60% of total revenue this year.
  • About 139 companies revenue is under Rs 3,000 crore each, together accounting for below 4% of the total revenues.

Sector Wise

  • The manufacturing  sector, with 303 companies, accounts for 62% of the total revenue and 76% of the total profit.
  • The service  sector, with 145 companies, accounts for 33% of the total revenue and 19% of the total profit.
  • Oil and Gas companies together account for 22% of the total revenue and 20% of the total profit.

500th Position

The 500th position is secured by IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals with Rs 1,889.53 crore revenue.
