On 14th October 2015 Union Cabinet gave permission for the RCE of Rs.2904.04 crores for the Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Project in Myanmar.
Decision was taken by the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Key Aspects of the Project :
An alternate access route to the North-Eastern region of India will be provided.
Contribution to the economic development of the region.
It act as a key connectivity project
Promote the economic, commercial and strategic links between India and Myanmar.
