On June 21, 2020 Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara informed that Rajasthan government has signed a tripartite agreement with the Power Grid Corporation of India(POWERGRID) and the Educational Consultants India Limited(EdCIL) to set up smart classrooms in 100 schools with a cost of Rs 1.85 crore.
- The initiative is to promote online education during COVID-19 lockdown.
Key Points
i.E-content syllabus will be available for students from classes 1 to 12. In each schools 4 teachers will be trained to teach in the smart classrooms
ii.The priority for establishing the smart classrooms will be given to schools located in remote areas where computer teachers and laboratory assistants have already been appointed.
iii.All arrangements will be made for the maintenance of classrooms and the continuation of the new education system
Schools to get smart classroom
- The 33 government schools which were recently selected to be converted into English medium institutions will also get digital classrooms.
- The schools developed as centres of excellence will also be equipped with these classrooms.
New schools to be opened
Rajasthan will open English medium government schools in 76 blocks out of 167 blocks in the state where Swami Vivekananda Model Schools are not present.
