Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit from 9 to 11 December 2024 in Jaipur, IndiaPrime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated the 3 days Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 (RRGIS 2024) and the Rajasthan Global Business Expo  on 9th December 2024 at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) in Rajasthan.

  • The summit was conducted for three days from 9th December to 11th December 2024.
  • The Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024, is based on the theme- ‘Replete, Responsible, Ready’.
  • India is currently ranked as the 5th largest economy in the world.

Key Points:

i.The main aim of the summit was to promote Rajasthan as a prime investment destination, due its skilled workforce and expanding market potential.

ii.Diplomats and representatives from 32 countries (16 partner countries and 20 international organizations) including Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, Denmark, and South Korea took part in the Summit.

iii.The summit hosted 12 sectoral sessions on topics like water security, sustainable mining, and women-led startups. Additionally, eight country sessions focused on themes such as ‘Water Management for Liveable Cities’ and ‘Trade and Tourism.’

iv.Moreover, MSME Conclave was also be held in those three days along with the Rajasthan Global Business Expo that featured thematic pavilions such as the Rajasthan Pavilion, Country Pavilions, Startups Pavilion among others.

Rajasthan signs MoU worth Rs 35 lakh crore:

i.Rajasthan Government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of over Rs 35 lakh crores during the Rising Rajasthan Global Summit 2024.

  • The progress report on the investments made during the summit was presented on December 11, 2025.

ii.Most of the major commitments came in solar energy, cement and mining. Energy investments are expected to contribute Rs 20.82 lakh crore, followed by industry (Rs 3.94 lakh crore), mining (Rs 1.83 lakh crore), urban development (Rs 0.97 lakh crore) and agriculture (Rs 0.65 lakh crore).

Centre approves 2 GW Solar Park for Rajasthan:

i.The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has approved the development of 2GW (gigawatt) Solar Park project of Rajasthan Solar Development Corporation in Rajasthan.

  • As part of the initiative, the project will receive 30% Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to support its development costs.
  • The project was announced during the session Rising Rajasthan: Transition towards a Sustainable Energy Economy’ at the Summit.
  • Rajasthan recently launched the Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which targets a 125 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.The policy supports India’s target of 500 GW renewable energy by 2030.

Note- Rajasthan has an installed renewable energy capacity of 30.31 GW, with solar power contributing 24.55 GW, making it the national leader in this domain.

Nine road projects worth Rs 30,000 crore announced for Rajasthan:

i.Union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced nine road and highway projects for Rajasthan, with a combined length of 800 kilometers on 10th December 2024.

  • These projects were announced at the session ‘Infrastructure: An Important Link in Supply Chain’ in the summit.
  • The total investment is worth Rs 30,000 crore.

ii.The announced projects include the Rs 6,500 crore Jaipur Ring Road, the Rs 6,800-crore Kotputli to Agra Greenfield Highway, the Rs 12,000 crore Jaipur-Kishangarh-Jodhpur-Amritsar Greenfield Highway, the Rs 538-crore elevated road from Raipur to Jassakheda in Pali, and the Rs 1,400-crore road construction from Nagaur to Netra.

iii.Initiatives including Rs 500-crore bypass at Sikar-Lakshmangarh-Fatehpur and the Rs 1,400-crore Jhunjhunu-Chiwa-Singhana-Pacheri road construction were also announced.

Adani Group to invest Rs.7.5 lakh crore in Rajasthan:

i.The Adani Group has planned to invest Rs 7.5 lakh crore in Rajasthan, focusing on green energy and infrastructure with over half of this investment to be implemented in the next five years.

ii.The plan includes developing a renewable energy ecosystem comprising 100 GW of capacity, 2 million tons of hydrogen production, and 1.8 GW of pumped hydro storage creating significant employment opportunities in Rajasthan.

  • At the summit, the Government of Rajasthan secured MoU) worth over Rs.30 lakh crore.
  • These projects include the modernization of Jaipur Airport, the establishment of a multi-modal logistics park, and the development of inland container depots (ICDs) to improve Rajasthan’s connectivity to national and global trade networks.

Tata Power to invest Rs 1.2 trillion in renewable energy in Rajasthan:

Tata Power has announced an investment of Rs 1.2 lakh crore in Rajasthan in various renewable energy related projects.

  • The initiatives include renewable energy projects with Rs 75,000 crore investment in solar, wind, hybrid projects, and investment in projects like rooftop solar, transmission and distribution, and EV charging infrastructure.It supports India to achieve its net-zero carbon goal by 2070.

Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave held in RRGIS 2024:

i.The Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave was held on 10th December,2024 as part of the RRGIS 2024.

  • Through the Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave, the government seeks to strengthen ties with the global Rajasthani community, to promote investment and philanthropic opportunities contributing to the state’s progress.

ii.It was also announced that ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Divas’ will be celebrated every year on 10th December.

Vedanta Group announces investment of Rs 1 lakh crore:

i.Vedanta Group has planned to invest Rs 1 lakh crore to boost the production of zinc and oil and gas, and renewable energy sectors in Rajasthan.Vedanta Group Chairman is Anil Agarwal.

  • Vedanta Group, which operates Hindustan Zinc and Cairn India, plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in zinc and oil production, including the establishment of the world’s first industrial Zinc Park in Rajasthan.
  • This initiative aims to create a platform for entrepreneurs to set up industries focused on zinc, lead, silver, and related byproducts, with investments ranging from Rs 5 crore to Rs 500 crore.

Birla  Group announces Rs.50,000 crore investment:

The Aditya Birla Group is going to invest Rs 50,000 crore in Rajasthan over the coming years, across multiple sectors including cement, renewable energy, telecom, and retail.The chairman of this group is Kumar Mangalam Birla.

  • Out of this, Rs 6,000 crore will be allocated for renewable energy projects, within the next 1-2 years.
  • UltraTech Cement, the group’s cement division, plans to increase its production capacity in Rajasthan by 10 million tons, on its current capacity of 20 million tons.
