About Siddhartha Mukherjee
i.Siddhartha Mukherjee was born in New Delhi. He is a noted biologist, oncologist, and the author of several acclaimed books. He has been a faculty of Columbia University since 2009.
ii.He has educated the public about the coronavirus through essays and through various modes of social media.
Awards & Honours– He won the Pulitzer Prize for his book ‘The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer’ in 2011. He received the Padma Shri in 2014. Among other honours this book was listed in the Time magazine’s “All-Time 100 Nonfiction Books”.

i.He received the Padma Shri in 2015, the John Bates Clark Medal of the American Economic Association in 2013 & Young Labor Economist Award in 2010.
ii.He has been named a MacArthur Fellow (2012) and an Andrew Carnegie Fellow (2019).
iii.Among other honours, he was listed as one of the top eight young economists in the world by The Economist and The New York Times in 2008.
