4 Indian Women, Actress and producer, Priyanka Chopra Jonas; Sirisha Bandla, Aeronautical engineer; Booker-winning author Geetanjali Shree and Social Worker Sneha Jawale, are featured on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s 100 Women list 2022, a list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2022.
About BCC’s 100 Women list:
i.The 2022 list marks the 10th season of the 100 Women.The list celebrates the achievements of women internationally, from grassroots volunteers to global leaders.
ii.The 2022 list reflects the role of women at the heart of conflict around the world in 2022.
iii.For the 1st time, the BBC asked the previous 100 Women laureate to nominate the women they feel deserve a place on the 2022 list .
About Priyanka Chopra Jonas:
i.Former Miss World(2000) & Indian actress, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, has acted in more than 60 films since her debut in 2002.
ii.Starring in Quantico (2015), She became the 1st South Asian actress to lead an American network drama series.
iii.He has also featured in Hollywood movies like Isn’t It Romantic and The Matrix Resurrections.
iv.She started her own production house titled ‘Purple Pebble Pictures’ in 2015 in India.
v.She is also United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador, campaigning for children’s rights and education for girls.
About Sirisha Bandla:
i.Sirisha Bandla, Indian-American aeronautical engineer, went to the edge of space as part of the historic 2021 Unity 22 mission, Virgin Galactic(VG)’s first fully crewed sub-orbital spaceflight. She became the 2nd woman of Indian origin to go to space.
ii.She is the Vice President of Government Affairs and Research Operations for Virgin Galactic, a role that includes working with research customers to fly science and technology experiments on board VG’s SpaceShip.
Note: She was nominated by 100 Women “2016” laureate, Actress Sunny Leone.
About Sneha Jawale:
i.Social Worker Sneha Jawale is a victim of domestic violence
ii.She is also a tarot card reader and scriptwriter. She is also set to star in a theatre play, Nirbhaya, named after 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim and based on the experiences of survivors of violence.
About Geetanjali Shree:
i.Novelist and writer Geetanjali Shree was the 1st Hindi writer to win the International Booker Prize 2022 for Tomb of the Sand, the English translation of her novel Ret Samadhi. ii.The French translation of the book was also shortlisted for the Emile Guimet Prize.
iii.She writes fiction in Hindi and non-fiction in Hindi and English.
iv.Her works have been translated into many Indian and foreign languages. She also works on theatrical scripts in collaboration with the theatre group Vivadi.

The list also features, American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska, “tsarina of Russian pop” Alla Pugacheva(Russian musical performer), Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi, Triple jump athlete Yulimar Rojas, and Ghanaian author Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah.
