President Murmu Presents Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism AwardsOn March 19, 2025, the 19th edition of the ‘Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards’ was held in, New Delhi (Delhi). The event honored 27 journalists across 20 categories, including investigative journalism, sports, politics and government, books, feature writing and regional languages.

  • The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the event as the Chief Guest and presented the awards to the winners.

About the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards:

i.The award was established by the Noida (Uttar Pradesh, UP) based Indian Express Group in 2005 to honor its founder Ramnath Goenka on his birth centenary.

ii.The award recognizes the courage and excellence of Print, Digital, and Broadcast journalists who uphold journalistic integrity despite political and economic challenges.

iii.The recipients were honored with a citation, a trophy, and a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh.

iv.This year 2025, Mridulika Jha of Aaj Tak received the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism 2025 for her impactful coverage of the Dunki route”, the illegal immigration pathway used by Haryana’s youth to enter the United States of America (USA).
