PM Modi Formally Launches Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2023

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) 2023 on February 10, 2023, in UP.

  • During the event, he also launched Invest UP 2.0 and inaugurated the Global Trade Show.

Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) 2023

UPGIS 2023 is the flagship investment summit of the Government of Uttar Pradesh which took place in Lucknow (UP) from February 10 to 12, 2023.

  • It intended to bring together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, think tanks, and world leaders to explore business opportunities and form partnerships.

Investor UP 2.0 is an all-encompassing, investor-centric, and service-oriented investment ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh that strives to provide investors with relevant, well-defined, and standardised services.

PM Modi’s visit to Maharashtra

On February 10, 2023, the PM visited Maharashtra and flagged off two Vande Bharat trains at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CMST) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • The two trains, Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat and Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat, would run on the popular tourist route between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Shirdi and CSMT-Solapur.

Key Points:

i.The Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Train will be India’s 9th Vande Bharat Train.

  • The new world-class train will improve connectivity between Mumbai and Solapur, as well as travel to significant pilgrimage sites such as Siddheshwar in Solapur, Akkalkot, Tuljapur, Pandharpur near Solapur, and Alandi near Pune.

ii.The Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat train will be India’s 10th Vande Bharat Train.

  • It will provide connectivity to significant Maharashtra pilgrimage sites like Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Sainagar Shirdi, and Shani Singanapur.

iii.He also dedicated to the nation two road projects: The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and the Kurar Underpass Project, both of which aim to reduce traffic congestion and simplify vehicle movement in Mumbai.

Note: Vande Bharat Trains Facts

  • This is the first time that two Vande Bharat trains have been flagged off on the same day.
  • So far, 10 Vande Bharat trains have commenced operations, linking 108 districts across 17 Indian states.

PM Modi inaugurates 246-km section of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa

On February 12, 2023, PM Narendra Modi visited Rajasthan and inaugurated the 246-kilometer (km) Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway from Dausa in Rajasthan.

  • This Delhi-Mumbai Expressway would be India’s longest Expressway, spanning 1,386 km.
  • It is developed at a cost of more than Rs. 12,150 crore.

Key Points:

i.This Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will run across 6 states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, connecting major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Surat.

ii.The Expressway would also provide access to 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 Ports, 8 Major Airports, and 8 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs).

  • It also provides access to recently constructed greenfield airports including Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, and JNPT Port.

iii.The new stretch is designed to reduce travel time from Delhi to Jaipur (Rajasthan) from 5 hours to roughly 3.5 hours, significantly boosting the region’s economic development.

PM Modi Inaugurates Mumbai Campus of Aljamea-Tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy at Marol

PM Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the new Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy (widely known as Jamea) campus in Marol, Mumbai, Maharashtra.

  • This will be the fourth campus of Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy.
  • The PM was accompanied by His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq and head of the Dawoodi Bohra Community.

i.This Aljamea-tus-Saifiyah Arabic Academy is the premier academic institution in the Dawoodi Bohra community.

ii.It was first founded in 1810 in Surat, Gujarat, about two centuries ago.

iii.Pakistani President Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq inaugurated the Karachi campus in 1983.

iv.The third campus of Jamea was inaugurated in Nairobi by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.

PM Inaugurates Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th Birth Anniversary Celebrations

PM Narendra Modi launched a year-long commemoration of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati’s 200th birth anniversary at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi.

  • In addition, he unveiled a commemorative logo.

i.Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati was a social reformer who founded Arya Samaj in 1875 to fight widespread social inequities. He was born on February 12, 1824.

ii.Through its emphasis on social reforms and education, Arya Samaj has played a significant part in the cultural and social awakening of the nation.
