Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Bihar on 13th November 2024 and laid foundation stones of various projects for the development in the region.
- PM Modi foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects around Rs 12,100 crore in Bihar.
- The development projects comprised of health, rail, road, petroleum and natural gas sectors.
PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone of AIIMS Darbhanga to boost health infrastructure in Bihar
i.With an aim to boost health infrastructure in the region, PM laid the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Darbhanga,Bihar at a cost of Rs. 1264 Crore.
ii.It will also provide affordable world class tertiary health care facilities to the people of Bihar including nearby districts of Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Sitamadhi, Madhubani, Saharsa, Purnia, Khagadia, Katihar etc and also to the people of nearby districts of West Bengal and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
iii.Under Pradhan Mantri Swasthaya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), till date, 22 AIIMS have been approved.
- Out of these 2 AIIMS have been approved in the State of Bihar: one in Patna and the other in Darbhanga.
PM lay foundation stone of projects to strengthen the clean energy architecture
i.PM Modi inaugurated multiple initiatives in the petroleum and natural gas sector worth over Rs 4,020 crore.
ii.PM laid the foundation stone for development of City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in five major districts of Bihar at Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi and Sheohar by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited in order to provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households and providing clean energy options to commercial and industrial sectors.
iii.He also inaugurated a Bitumen manufacturing unit of Barauni Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited that will produce bitumen domestically which will help in reducing the dependence on imported bitumen.
PM Modi inaugurates 18 Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations
i.PM Modi inaugurated 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at various railway stations across the country through video conferencing from Darbhanga in Bihar.
ii.These Kendras will provide quality medicines at railway stations for the passengers at affordable prices.
iii.75 thousand new medical seats will be added in the next five years.
- Around one lakh 50 thousand Ayushman Arogya Mandir has been opened in the country for economically weaker sections.
iv.The newly inaugurated 18 Jan Aushadhi Kendras will be operational at Samastipur station in Bihar, Lalitpur, Badshahnagar, and Bareilly City in Uttar Pradesh, Agartala in Tripura, Durgapur, Barmer, and Falna in Rajasthan, Nagercoil Junction and Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, Kacheguda in Telangana, Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, Davangere in Karnataka, Chandlodiya, Rajkot, and Vapi in Gujarat, Netaji in West Bengal, and Katni in Madhya Pradesh.
Other developments
i.PM Modi launched multiple National Highway projects worth around Rs 5,070 crore in Bihar and railway projects worth over Rs.1520 crore.
ii.Railway projects worth over Rs.1740 crore was also unveiled. The foundation stone of Sonenagar Bypass Railway line from Chiralapothu to Bagha Bishunpur in Aurangabad district of Bihar worth over Rs 220 crore was also laid.
iii.The Prime Minister also flagged off train services in the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar section. Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train services were also introduced to provide easier access to jobs, education, and healthcare facilities in nearby towns and cities.
