PM Modi Laid Foundation & Dedicated Projects worth Rs.11,200 Crore Projects in Maharashtra

On 29th September 2024, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone and commenced various projects worth Rs.11,200 crore in Maharashtra.

Details of the projects: 

Pune Metro: 

i.PM Modi inaugurated the Pune Metro section (from District Court to Swargate) marking the completion of the Pune Metro Rail Project (Phase-1).

• This underground section was constructed at a cost of Rs 1,810 crore.
• The foundation stone for the Pune Metro was laid in 2016.

ii.PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for Swargate-Katraj Extension of Pune Metro Phase-1. This will be developed at a cost of Rs 2,955 crore.

• This southern extension of around 5.46 km is completely underground with 3 stations namely Market Yard, Padmavati and Katraj.

Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) 

PM Modi also dedicated to the nation Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA), a transformative project covering 7,855 acres under the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP) of the government of India (GoI).

• It is situated 20 kms south of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra. This will be a important economic hub in the Marathwada region.
• The GoI approved this project with an overall cost of Rs 6,400 crore for development in 3 phases.
• The project was developed under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

Solapur Airport: 

PM Modi inaugurated the Solapur Airport which will improve connectivity, making Solapur more accessible to tourists, business travelers and investors. The existing terminal Building of Solapur has been reconstructed to serve around 4.1 lakh passengers annually.

Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School:

PM Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Memorial for Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s First Girls’ School at Bhidewada. The memorial will serve as a tribute to the social reform movement and inspire future generations.

• The Savitribai Phule Memorial will include a skill development centre, a library, and other essential facilities.
