On September 29-30, 2022, The Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi was on two day state visit to Gujarat where he lays foundation stone and dedicates various development projects to the nation worth over Rs 7200 crores which include the following:
i.PM dedicated and laid the foundation stone of over 45,000 houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
ii.He dedicated the 62 Km long New Palanpur-New Mahesana section of the Western Freight Dedicated Corridor and the 13 Km long New Palanpur-New Chatodar Section (Palanpur bypass line).
- With the opening of these sections, 734 km of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will become operational.
iii.He also dedicated various road projects including the widening of Mitha – Tharad – Deesa Road, among others.
iv.He laid the foundation stone of Taranga Hill – Ambaji – Abu Road New Broad Gauge Line and the development of pilgrimage facilities at Ambaji temple under PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme.
v.He launched Mukhyamantri Gaumata Poshan Yojana and handed over cheques to gaushalas.
PM inaugurates Phase-I of Ahmedabad Metro project at the Ahmedabad Education Society in Ahmedabad
On September 30, 2022, the Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the Phase-I of the Ahmedabad (Gujarat) Metro project between Thaltej and Vastral at the Ahmedabad Education Society in Gujarat.
- The entire Phase-1 project is built at a cost of more than Rs 12,900 crore.
About Ahmedabad Metro project:
The total length of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-I is about 40.03 km out of which approximately 6.5km is underground and the rest is elevated section. The project will connect 4 corners of the Ahmedabad city with 32 stations and following 2 corridors:
i.North-South Corridor with a length of 18.87 km will connect Gyaspur to Motera Stadium.
ii.East-West Corridor with a length of about 21.16 km with 17 stations in the route. This corridor will connect Vastral Gaam to Thaltej Gaam.
Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express flagged Off
The PM also flagged off Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express at Gandhinagar station. This train will reduce the journey time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai as it will take maximum 5.5 hours to complete the journey from Gandhinagar to Mumbai (Maharashtra).
