PM lays foundation stone and dedicates to the nation projects worth Rs. 75,000 crores in MaharashtraOn December 11, 2022, the Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation 11 projects worth more than 75,000 crores in Maharashtra.

PM inaugurates Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, Nagpur

PM inaugurated Phase – I of Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg in Nagpur connecting Nagpur and Shirdi covering a distance of 520 Kms. Its outlay is about Rs 55,000 crore.

  • Samruddhi Mahamarg is also known as Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Project.

Key Points:

i.It is a 701 Km expressway which is one of India’s longest expressways and will pass through Maharashtra’s 10 districts, and prominent urban regions of Amravati, Aurangabad and Nashik.

ii.It will connect  24 districts of Maharashtra in a modern way and provide agricultural progress, pilgrimage development, promotion of industries and employment opportunities.

iii.It will also connect to the Delhi Mumbai Expressway, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and tourist locations like Ajanta Ellora Caves, Shirdi, Verul, Lonar, etc.

PM dedicates AIIMS Nagpur to the nation

The PM dedicated to the nation, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) Nagpur, a 150 acre campus which is being developed at a cost of more than Rs 1575 crore under the under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

  • It is a hospital with state-of-the-art facilities, and 38 departments covering all major speciality and super speciality subjects of Medical Science.
  • Its foundational stone was also laid by the PM in July 2017.

National rail projects worth more than Rs 1500cr launched:

The PM laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation National rail projects worth more than Rs 1500 crores which include the following:

i.Flagged off Vande Bharat Express Train from Nagpur to Bilaspur

  • It will connect Nagpur and Bilaspur with a reduced timing of 5 hours 30 minutes from 7-8 hours.

ii.Dedicated Nagpur Metro Phase I to the nation: Outlay more than Rs 8650 crore

  • Flagged off two inaugural metro trains from Khapri to Automotive Square and Prajapati Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar.

iii.Laid the foundation stone of Nagpur Metro phase- II: Outlay more than Rs 6700 crore

iv.Laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station and Ajni Railway Station.

Others:

i.He also dedicated Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology’s Centre for Skilling and Technical Support (CIPET-CSTS), Tadali, Chandrapur to the nation. It trains students in plastic engineering and technology.

  • The campus was set up on 15 acres land at a cost of Rs 51.3 crores.
  • CIPET is a premier ISO 9001:2015 QMS certified and NABL, ISO/IEC 17020 accredited institution established under the aegis of Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals.

ii.He inaugurated Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) – Centre for Research, Management and Control of Hemoglobinopathies, Chandrapur.

  • It will play a leading role in research on haemoglobinopathies and similar diseases

iii.He laid the foundation stone for the National Institute for One Health in Nagpur.

  • It will focus on increasing preparedness and laboratory capabilities for identification of novel and unknown zoonotic agents.
  • It will be equipped with the Bio Safety Level (BSL-IV) laboratory.

iv.He also laid the foundation stone of the rejuvenation project of Nag river.
