Prime Minister(PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth over Rs 11,300 crore in Telangana during his visit to Telangana on 8th April 2023.
- During his visit, he also addressed the public gathering at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, Telangana.
PM flagged off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat train:
He also flagged off the prestigious Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express train connecting Secunderabad and Tirupati.
i.This is the second Vande Bharat train for the two Telugu States, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
ii.This will reduce the travel time between Hyderabad to Tirupathi to about 8 hours 30 minutes(around 3 hours less than the usual travel time) with limited stops at Nalgonda, Guntur, Ongole, and Nellore.
Other highlights:
i.PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the re-development of Secunderabad railway station, taken up at a cost of around Rs 720 crore.
- This project involves the development of world-class amenities and an aesthetically designed iconic station building.
- The re-developed station will have a double-level spacious roof plaza with all passenger amenities along with multimodal connectivity for providing seamless transfer of passengers from rail to other modes among others.
ii.He also dedicated the completed parts of the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling project (stretching 85.24 km) to the nation.
- The project has been completed at a cost of around Rs 1410 crore.
- This involves 9 bridges, and 152 minor bridges along with the elimination of 17 level crossing gates to enhance the safety of road users and train operation.
iii.He also inaugurated the 13 new Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) services during his visit.
- These 13 MMTS in the suburban section of the Hyderabad–Secunderabad twin city region will provide the commuters in the twin city region with a fast, convenient and comfortable travel option.
- The new services will provide a most cost-effective, safe and comfortable travel facility for daily commuters, students, and office goers.
iv.He also laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) Bibinagar in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Telangana. This will be built at a cost of around Rs 1350 crore.
- This will provide comprehensive, quality and holistic tertiary care health services to the people of Telangana.
v.He also laid the foundation stone of the national highway project worth Rs 7850 crore.
- This will provide connectivity to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
