Producer Pahlaj Nihalani has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also appointed nine new members as a replacement of those members resigned with former chief Leela Samson. The new members include George Baker, BJP leader Vani Tripathi Tikoo, Mihir Bhuta and filmmakers Ashoke Pandit and Chandra Prakash Dwivedi.

The CBFC or the Censor Board regulates the public exhibition of films under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952.
Pahlaj Nihalani is a film producer and some of the movies he produced was Kushboo, Talaash, Andaz, and Aankhen.
CBFC has nine Regional offices in India – one each at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Cuttack and Guwahati.
The first Chair person of CBFC was C S Aggarwal.
