Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Uttarakhand on November 09, 2025

On November 09 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Uttarakhand to participate in a programme marking the Silver Jubilee(25) Celebrations of formation of Uttarakhand (carved out of Uttar Pradesh (UP) on November 09, 2000) at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Highlights of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Uttarakhand:

Key Dignitaries: Lt. General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, Governor of Uttarakhand; Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister (CM) of Uttarakhand; Union Minister of State (MoS) Ajay Tamta, Ministry of Textiles (MoT), among others were present at the event.

Releases: In order to mark the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand’s foundation day, PM Narendra Modi released a special series of postage stamps issued by the Uttarakhand Postal Circle symbolizing the state’s major natural heritage sites and cultural symbols.

  • In addition to that, he also launched a coffee table book titled ‘Gauravshali Ateet, Sashakt Vartaman aur Sunehra Bhavishya’.

Key Projects: 

Overview: During the visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects spanning across various key sectors such as: drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development.

Inauguration: Dehradun water supply coverage for 23 zones under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, electrical substation in Pithoragarh district, solar power plants in government buildings, AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital.

Foundation : He laid the foundation stone of two key hydro-sector related projects: Song Dam Drinking Water Project which will supply 150 Million Litres per Day (MLD) to Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand; and Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

  • He also laid the foundation stone of other key projects include: electrical substations, setting up of Women’s Sports College (in Champawat); state-of-the-art diary plant (in Nainital).

Financial Support: During the event, he also released a financial support amount of Rs 62 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 28,000 farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
