On 25th November 2025, the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Kurukshetra, Haryana and participated in two major events – the International Gita Mahotsav 2025 and the state-level commemoration of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Highlights of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit:
Inauguration of ‘Panchjanya’: PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Panchjanya’ exhibit at the Mahabharata Experience Centre in Kurukshetra, built to honour the sacred conch of Lord Krishna.
- This massive conch weighs around 5.5 tonnes (tn) and stands nearly 5 metres (m) tall.
- The centre showcases the Mahabharata’s cultural, spiritual, and historical aspects through immersive exhibits, audiovisuals, and interactive installations.
Anubhav Kendra: He visited the Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra, an immersive experiential centre developed under the Ministry of Tourism(MoT’s) ‘Swadesh Darshan’ scheme.
- The centre was constructed at a cost Rs 200 crore (cr).
Brahma Sarovar: He also performed Darshan and Pooja at Brahma Sarovar, one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.

PM Narendra Modi Commemorates 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur
Event: PM Narendra Modi participated in and addressed a special programme commemorating the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, in Kurukshetra.
- Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas, known as Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day, is a major event in the Sikh religion.
Programmes: Since 1 November 2025, multiple programmes honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur have been held across Haryana, including four religious yatras originating from the state’s four corners to disseminate the teachings of the ninth Sikh Guru to the public.
- To honour the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the Government of India (GoI) is observing a year-long commemoration.
- During the event, he released a coffee-table book published by the Haryana government.
Coin and Stamp: During the programme, PM Narendra Modi released a Rs.350 commemorative coin and Rs.5 stamp to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.
- About Coin: The commemorative coin has a denomination of Rs.350 and is made of 99.9% pure silver, weighing 40 grams with a diameter of 44 millimeter(mm) and an edge featuring 200 serrations.
- The obverse side depicts the Lion Capital of Ashoka along with the inscriptions “भारत / INDIA,” the rupee symbol “₹,” and the denomination “350.”
- The reverse side features an image of the Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, along with the inscriptions “1675–2025” and commemorative legends in Hindi and English, honoring Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th Shaheedi Diwas.
- About Stamp: It features inscriptions in Hindi and English highlighting the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru and celebrates his teachings and legacy.
About Guru Tegh Bahadur:
Guru: He was born on April 1st 1621 in Amritsar, Punjab.He was an Indian spiritual leader who is revered as the ninth Sikh Guru (1664–75).
Legacy:He is considered to be the second Sikh martyr executed by the Mughal rulers.He is remembered particularly for his fight for religious freedom.
