Overview of PM Narendra Modi’s Visit to Gujarat on September 20, 2025

On September 20, 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Gujarat to lay foundation stone, inaugurate and review multiple development projects worth more than Rs.34,200 crores in areas such as ports, energy, health, highways, heritage, and industrial zones in Bhavnagar, Dholera, and Lothal, Gujarat.

Highlights of the Visit:

Samudra Se Samriddhi: During his visit, PM Narendra Modi attended the “Samudra Se Samriddhi” event under the theme “Samudra Se Samriddhi” in Bhavnagar(Gujarat).

Development Projects for Gujarat: He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple central and state government projects worth over Rs.26,354 crore, covering various sectors in Gujarat.

Inaugurations: Virtually inaugurated Hindustan Petroleum Liquified Natural Gas (HPLNG) Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port in Somnath (Gujarat), Acrylics & Oxo Alcohol Project at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Refinery in Vadodara (Gujarat).

  • He also inaugurated the 45-Megawatt (MW) Badeli Solar Photo Voltaic (PV) Project, and complete solarization of Dhordo village,recognised as the ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), in Kutch, Gujarat.

Foundation Stones: Laid the foundation stone for the expansion of Guru Govind Sinh Government Hospital in Jamnagar, four-laning of 70 Kilometre (km) of National Highways (NH), and other projects such as LNG infrastructure, additional Renewable Energy (RE) projects, and coastal protection project works.

Projects in Bhavnagar: Inaugurated and laid foundation stone of projects worth Rs.5,200 crores in Bhavnagar.

  • He laid the foundation stone of the World’s First Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Terminal, brownfield port, and for the expansion of Sir T. General Hospital in Bhavnagar.
  • Inaugurated the Regional Science Centre(RSC), spanning 20 acres, worth Rs.100 crores, and other projects including Sauni Yojna Package 7, 25 MW Palitana Solar PV Project, Aawadkrupa Plastomech Private Limited (APPL) container, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) 475 MW Component C solar feeder for farmers, and 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, a power project.
  • He also laid foundations and inaugurated projects worth Rs.267 crore in Bhavnagar, including a 45 MLD(Million Litres per Day) sewage plant, road and sewerage works, and projects under the Water Resources and Agriculture Departments, such as the Chanch Anti-Sea Erosion project (Rs.56 crore), Junagadh-Vanthali water scheme (Rs.38.27 crore), and a Fish Landing Centre at Dhamlej (Rs.39.46 crore).

Review: He also undertook the Aerial Survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), envisioned as a greenfield industrial city, built around sustainable industrialization, smart infrastructure, and global investment in Dholera.

Maritime Projects across India:

Overview: PM Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple maritime sector development projects worth over Rs.7,870 crore.

  • To boost maritime growth, he virtually dedicated 21 Memorandum of understanding(MoUs) worth Rs.66,025 crore under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways(MoPSW).

Cruise Terminal: Virtually inaugurated Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), India’s largest cruise terminal, worth Rs.556 crores at Indira Dock in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Container & Cargo Terminal: Virtually laid foundation stone of a new terminal and associated facilities at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata (West Bengal, WB); new container berth and cargo handling facilities in Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur (Odisha); Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal in Kandla (Gujarat); and Multi-purpose cargo berth & Green Bio-Methanol Plant at Deendayal Port in Kandla.

Port Infrastructure: Virtually laid foundation for firefighting facilities and road connectivity at Kamarajar Port at Ennore in Chennai (Tamil Nadu, TN), ship repair facility at Ramnagar in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh, UP) worth Rs.300 Crores and India’s 1st freight village in Chandauli (UP) worth Rs.200 crores.

Technology Centre: Virtually inaugurated Indian Ship Technology Centre (ISTC) at the Indian Maritime University (IMU), in Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh, AP).

  • It is a Centre of Excellence (CoE) under the IMU, focusing on advancing Research and Development (R&D) in ship design and production.

Coastal Protection: Virtually laid foundation for the construction of a sea wall and revetment works at Chennai Port in Chennai and for the construction of sea wall in Car Nicobar Island.
