Aviation:
Purnea Airport Terminal: PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Interim Terminal Building at New Civil Enclave of Purnea Airport and flagged off the first commercial flight from Purnea, connecting the Seemanchal region to the national aviation network.
Significance: It is the fourth operational airport of Bihar, following the airports in Patna, Gaya, and Dharbhanga. The development is expected to provide a boost to regional connectivity, facilitating the growth of tourism, and promoting trade and economic opportunities.
Railways:
Araria-Galgalia (Thakurganj) Rail Line: Inaugurated the Araria-Galgalia (Thakurganj) Rail Line worth Rs.4,140 crores, enhancing connectivity in north Bihar and towards North Bengal, facilitating seamless movement of people and goods across the region.
- He also dedicated the completion of electrification works on multiple railway sections.
Bikramshila-Katareah Rail Line: He laid foundation stone for the Bikramshila-Katareah Rail Line, worth Rs.2,170 crores, providing direct rail link across the river Ganga.
Vande Bharat: Flagged off Vande Bharat Express Train between Jogbani and Danapur. He also flagged off Amrit Bharat Express trains between Saharsa and Chheharta (Amritsar, Punjab) and Jogbani and Erode (Tamil Nadu, TN).
Energy Sector:
Thermal Power Project: Laid the foundation stone of 3×800 Megawatt (MW) thermal power project at Pirpainti, Bhagalpur. The total outlay of the project is Rs.25,000 crores, the second largest private sector investment.
- It is designed on ultra-super critical, low-emission technology to provide dedicated power and strengthen the energy security of Bihar.
Water:
Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project: Laid the foundation stone of Phase 1 of Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link Project worth over Rs.2680 crores, benefitting multiple districts in northeastern Bihar with irrigation expansion, flood control, and agricultural resilience.
- The project will focus on the upgradation of canals, including desilting, reconstruction of damaged structures, renovation of the settling basin, and enhancement of its discharge capacity from 15,000 to 20,000 cusecs.
National Makhana Board:
Support for Farmers: PM Modi launched the National Makhana Board in Bihar to support farmers and boost the Makhana industry. It will focus on enhancing production with new technologies, better storage and processing, value addition, branding and expanding markets, including exports.
Primary Hub: As Bihar produces approximately 90% of the total Makhana production in India, the Board will benefit farmers in districts such as Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Araria, which serve as the primary hub due to their favourable climatic conditions and fertile soil.
Sex Sorted Semen Facility:
First-of-its-kind Facility: Inaugurated the Sex Sorted Semen Facility, a state-of-the-art semen station under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, in Purnea. The facility, capable of producing 5 lakh sex-sorted semen doses annually, is the first-of-its-kind in eastern and north-eastern India.
Technology: The facility utilizes indigenously developed technology, launched in October 2024 as part of the Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. It increases the chances of birth of female calves to help the small, marginal farmers and landless laborers to earn income through better dairy production.
Others:
The Prime Minister also participated in Griha Pravesh ceremonies being held for 35,000 rural beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Rural (PMAY -R) and 5,920 urban beneficiaries under PMAY (Urban) and handed over keys to a few beneficiaries.
- PM also distributed Community Investment Funds of around Rs 500 crore to Cluster Level Federations under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Antyodaya Yojana (DAY-NRLM) in Bihar and handed over cheques.
GST Relief: PM Modi announced the reduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates will take effect from September 22, 2025, coinciding with the onset of Navaratri, a Hindu festival.
