Overview of PM Modi visit to Gujarat(Oct 9-11)On October 9-11, 2022, the Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi was on a 3-day visit to Gujarat to launch new projects and inaugurate a few completed projects. After that he visited Madhya Pradesh to dedicate Phase I of the Mahakaal Lok Project.

The details of his visit are as below:

PM visit to Mehsana: Modhera village declared as India’s first 24×7 solar-powered village

PM Narendra Modi visited the Modhera village of Mehsana district, Gujarat where he dedicated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 3900 crore. He also declared the Modhera village as India’s first 24×7 solar-powered village.

  • The village has more than 1300 Rooftop solar systems installed on residential & Government buildings, all integrated with Battery Energy storage system (BESS).
  • He also visited Modheshwari Mata Temple and Surya Mandir in Modhera.

Projects dedicated to nation include the following among others:

i.Gauge Conversion of Sabarmati-Jagudan segment of Ahmedabad-Mehsana Gauge Conversion project

ii.ONGC’s (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) Nandasan Geological oil production project; iii.Sujalam Sufalam Canal from Kherava to Shingoda Lake

iv.Dharoi Dam Based Vadnagar Kheralu and Dharoi Group Reform Scheme

v.Project of four laning of a section of Bechraji Modhera -Chanasma state highway

vi.Project to expand a section of Unja-Dasaj Upera Ladol (Bhankhar Approach Road)

vii.New Building of Regional Training Centre

viii.Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA), Mehsana

ix.Projection Mapping at Sun Temple at Modhera

Foundation stone laid for the following:

i.Four laning of a section of NH-68 from Patan to Gozariya

ii.Water treatment plant at Chalasan village of Jotana taluka of Mehsana district

iii.New automated milk powder plant and UHT milk carton plant at Dudhsagar Dairy

iv.Redevelopment & Reconstruction of General Hospital Mehsana

v.Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for Mehsana and other districts of North Gujarat

PM in Bharuch, Gujarat

During his visit to Bharuch, PM laid the foundation stone of projects worth over Rs 8000 crore in Amod, Bharuch which include the following:

i.Foundation stone laid for Bulk Drug Park at Jambusar which will ensure import substitution and help make India self-reliant for bulk drugs.

  • In 2021-22, bulk drugs accounted for over 60% of total pharmaceutical imports.

ii.Foundation stone of the Deep Sea Pipeline Project at Dahej was also laid.

  • It will help in disposal of treated wastewater from industrial estates.

iii.Other projects whose foundation stone laid include  the phase 1 of Ankleshwar Airport and development of Multilevel Industrial Sheds at Ankleshwar and Panoli, which will give a boost to the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.

Ground Breaking Ceremony:

He also performed the ground breaking ceremony for the development of multiple industrial parks. These include four Tribal Industrial Parks which will come up in Valia (Bharuch), Amirgadh (Banaskantha), Chakaliya (Dahod) and Vanar (Chhota Udaipur); Agro Food Park at Mudetha (Banaskantha); Sea Food Park at Kakwadi Danti (Valsad); and MSME Park at Khandivav (Mahisagar).

Projects dedicated to Nation:

PM dedicated several projects which will give a boost to the chemicals sector. It includes the following:

i.800 TPD (Temperature-programmed desorption) Caustic Soda Plant integrated with 130 MW cogeneration power plant at Dahej.

ii.Expansion of existing Caustic Soda Plant at Dahej, whose capacity has been increased from 785 MT(Metric Tonne)/day to 1310 MT/day.

iii.Project for manufacturing over one lakh MT per annum of Chloromethanes at Dahej.

iv.Other dedicated projects include hydrazine Hydrate Plant at Dahej which will help in import substitution of the product, IOCL Dahej-Koyali Pipeline Project, Bharuch underground drainage and widening & strengthening of Umlla Asaa Panetha road.

PM in Ahmedabad:

i.Here, PM inaugurated the Phase 1 of Modi Shaikshanik Sankul, an educational complex for needy students.

ii.He also dedicated and laid the foundation stones of various healthcare facilities around Rs.1275 crore in Civil Hospital Asarwa, Ahmedabad.

  • This includes dedication of new and improved facilities for cardiac care and a new hostel building in U.N Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, among others.
  • He laid the foundation stone of shelter home to accommodate families of poor patients.

PM in Jamnagar, Gujarat:

In Jamnagar, he dedicated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 1450 crore. These projects relate to irrigation, power, water supply and urban infrastructure, and are as follows:

i.Dedicated package 7 of Saurashtra Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) Yojana Link 3 (from Und Dam to Sonmati Dam), package 5 of SAUNI Yojana Link 1 (from Und-1 dam to SANI Dam) and Haripar 40 MW Solar PV project.

ii.Foundation stone laid for Kalavad Group Augmentation water supply scheme, Lalpur Bypass junction flyover Bridge, Hapa Market Yard Railway Crossing , and the refurbishment of the Sewer Collection pipeline and pumping station.

PM visit to Madhya Pradesh:

On October 11, 2022, the PM visited Madhya Pradesh (MP) where he inaugurated the Mahakal Lok corridor at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. The corridor is part of the first phase of Rs 850 crore Mahakaleshwar Temple Corridor Development Project. It is aimed at decongesting the entire area.

  • The inauguration ceremony of the corridor was telecast live in 40 countries.
  • The Mahakaleshwar temple is one of the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ in India and gets devotees throughout the year.

During the inauguration, he was accompanied by the Governor of MP, Mangubhai Patel; the Chief Minister (CM) of MP, Shivraj Singh Chauhan; among others.

Key Points:

i.More than 900-metre-long Mahakal corridor is one of the largest corridors in India.  It spreads around the old Rudrasagar Lake that has also been revived.

ii.Under the project, the temple precinct will be expanded nearly seven times.

iii.Existing footfall of the temple, which is currently around 1.5 crore per annum, is expected to be doubled.

iv.The Mahakal corridor contains 108 stambhs (pillars) which depict Anand Tandav Swaroop (Dance form) of Lord Shiva. Many religious sculptures depicting the life of Lord Shiva are installed along the Mahakal Path.

v.The entire premise will be monitored 24×7 by Integrated Command and Control Centre with the help of artificial intelligence and surveillance cameras.
