Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi visited Rajasthan on December 17, 2024.
- He participated in the ‘Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh’ organised to mark the completion of one year of State Government of Rajasthan.
- During his visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 24 projects related to Energy, Road, Railways and Water worth over Rs 46,300 crores at Jaipur, Rajasthan.

PM Modi Participated in “Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh” :
On December 17 2024, PM Narendra Modi participated in the “Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh” programme commemorating the completion of one year of the Rajasthan government in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
- During the event, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Modified Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (MPKC-ERCP).
Key People: Union Minister CR Patil, Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS); Bhajanlal Sharma, Chief Minister (CM)of Rajasthan; and Mohan Yadav, CM of Madhya Pradesh(MP) were present at the event.
About MPKC-ERCP:
i.The MPKC-ERCP project has been designated as a ‘national project’ by the Government of India (GoI).
- The total cost of the project will be shared between the GoI and the state governments of MP and Rajasthan in the ratio of 90:10, respectively.
ii.The project will provide water for both irrigation and drinking purposes to 21 districts of Rajasthan and will boost the development of both Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (MP).
iii.The project will interlink major rivers like Chambal, Parvati, Kalisindh, Kuno, Banas, Banganga, Ruparail, Gambhiri, and Mej.
Note: In January 2024, the state governments of Rajasthan and MP signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MoJS, for onboarding planning of the MPKC link project, integrated with ERCP.
PM Modi Inaugurated and Laid Foundation of 24 Projects worth Rs 46,300 Crore in Rajasthan
During his visit, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 24 projects across various sectors such as: energy, roads, railways and water worth Rs 46,300 crores in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Key Development Projects:
i.PM Modi inaugurated 9 projects worth over Rs 11,000 crore including 7 central government led projects and 2 state government projects.
ii.He also laid the foundation stone for15 projects worth more than 35,300 crore including 9 central government projects and 6 state government projects.
iii.Some of the important projects inaugurated during the event: Navnera Barrage, Smart Electricity Transmission Network and Assessment Management System projects, Railway electrification of Bhildi-Samdari-Luni-Jodhpur-Merta Road-Degana-Ratangarh section and Package 12 of Delhi-Vadodara Green Field Alignment (NH-148 N) (major bridge over Mej river up to junction with SH-37A), among others.
- These projects will provide an easy commute to people and fulfil the energy requirements of the state, in alignment with the PM’s vision of green energy.
iv.He laid the foundation stone for construction work of Ramgarh Barrage & Mahalpur Barrage and system for transfer of water from Navnera Barrage to Bilaspur Dam and Isarda Dam through aqueduct on Chambal river.
- These projects will be developed at a cost of more than Rs 9,400 crore.
v.He further laid the foundation stone of various other projects:
- Installation of rooftop solar plants on government buildings;
- Development of one 2000 MegaWatt (MW)solar park & two phases of 1000 MW solar parks in Poogal (Bikaner);
- Development of drinking water transmission line from Saipau (Dholpur) to Bharat-Deeg-Kumher-Nagar-Kaman and Chambal-Dholpur-Bharatpur retrofitting work.
