Narendra Modi, Prime Minister (PM) of India, visited Jalgaon in Maharashtra and Jodhpur in Rajasthan on 25th August, 2024.
Highlights of Modi’s visit to Maharashtra:
PM addressed Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Maharashtra
On 25th August 2024, PM Modi addressed Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. During the event, he felicitated 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis, who have achieved the mark of Lakhpati during the 3rd term of PM Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
- He announced the allocation of more than Rs 6,000 crore for women’s self-groups or Sakhi Mandals, with the aim of boosting the income of lakhs of women and to upgrading them to status of ‘Lakhpati Didis’.

Key announcements:
i.He also released a Revolving Fund i.e. Community Investment Fund of Rs 2500 crore which aims to benefit about 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
ii.During the event, PM released a bank loan of Rs 5,000 crore which is expected to benefit 25.8 lakh members of around 2.35 lakh SHGs.
Key Points:
i.While addressing the event, PM Modi highlighted the contribution of women in successful implementation of various schemes like: over 1.25 lakh bank sakhis providing banking services in every village; women becoming drone pilots to help in modern farming; and training 2 lakh pashu sakhis to help livestock farmers.
ii.PM informed that Rs 3 lakh crore have been allocated in the Union Budget of Financial Year 2024-25 (FY25), for schemes related to women.
iii.He underscored the importance of Sakhi Mandalis as 10 crore women have joined the campaign in the last decade and they have been made part of the banking system by facilitating low-interest loans.
- He mentioned that bank loans for SHGs has increased from less than Rs 25,000 crore (in 2014) to Rs 9 lakh crore (in 2024).
About Lakhpati Didi Scheme:
i.It is a skill development programme which was launched in 2023 and is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD).
- So far, 1 crore women have already been made Lakhpati Didis.
- The Government of India (GoI) aims to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis in the next 3 years.
ii.It helps rural females to set up micro-enterprises in their respective villages and earn a sustainable income of minimum Rs 1 lakh annually per household by leveraging their entrepreneurial skills.

PM addressed Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Rajasthan High Court
On 25th August 2024, PM Narendra Modi addressed the concluding ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee (75 years) of the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was invited at the ceremony as a Chief Guest.
- The event was presided over by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dhananjaya Yeshwant (DY) Chandrachud.
- PM Modi also inaugurated the Rajasthan Court Museum.
Key People: Haribhau Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan; Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister (CM) of Rajasthan; Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Ministry of Law and Justice (MoL&J); among others were present during the event.
