The 3rd edition of the U23 (under 23) World Wrestling Championship for the year 2019, was held from October 28- November 3, 2019, in Budapest, Hungary. The championship was organized by United World Wrestling(UWW) under 3 events: Men’s freestyle, Men’s Greco-Roman and Women’s freestyle.

India won 2 Silver Medals, they are as follows
Ravinder (61kg) won silver medal:
Indian wrestler Ravinder obtained a silver medal in the final of Men’s freestyle event. He was defeated by Kyrgyzstan’s Ulukbek Zholdoshbekov in the 61kg category. It was considered as India’s first medal in the 2019 edition of the U23 wrestling championship.
Pooja Gehlot (53kg) won silver medal:
In the 53 kg women’s wrestling category, Pooja Gehlot won silver medal. She was defeated by Japan’s Haruna Okuno in the final event of the championship.
- 2017: The first edition of the U23 championship was held in 2017 in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
- 2020: The next U23 World Wrestling Championship for the year 2020 will be held in Tampere, Finland.
Overall Winners
The overall championship in men’s Freestyle event was clinched by Russia while men’s Greco-Roman event won by Iran, and Women’s event by Japan.
