On December 9, 2019, According to the Agriculture Department, Government of India (GoI), the 4th instalment of the PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) finance support scheme due between December 2019 and March 2020 will be transferred only to Aadhar-linked bank accounts of more than 50 million beneficiaries.Key Points:
i.This was the 1st time the central government has insisted on the mandatory condition of Aadhar seeding since the launch of PM-KISAN scheme in February 2019.
ii.The centre has not yet decided the date and venue for disbursement of the installment but is expected to disburse over Rs.10,000 crore to farmers in a one day.This move will enhance the rural economy at a time when GDP (Gross Domestic Product )growth has hit the lowest.
About PM-Kisan Yojana:
Under this scheme, the Central government provides Rs 6000 annually in three equal installments of Rs.2000 every four months in a year to 14 crore farmers of India.
The amount is directly transferred into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. It is given to farmers having land upto 2 hectares.
As on November 30, 2019 the govt. has disbursed Rs. 36,000 crores under this.
