Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik initiated a new Scheme called as “Kalinga Siksha Sathi Yojana” to afford education loan at 1% interest to students for pursuing higher studies
Fund requirement: Rs. 500 Crore
Purpose: To help for students pursuing higher education including Management, Law, Engineering and Medicine
Aim: Ensuring that meritorious students do not stop enrolling for higher education due to financial stress
Key Aspects:
- Chief Minister fully known the financial pressure undergone by parents and provide education loan at minimal interest rate
- The scheme would reduce the burden of Lakhs of Parents
- Financially empower the poor students to pursue their aspiration in higher education
- Dedicated to Former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his birth centenary who had established ‘Kalinga UNESCO’ Award for the popularization of Science
About Kalinga Sikshya Sathi Yojana:
- The Government would provide education loan at 1 per cent interest per annum to students pursuing higher education
- Higher education includes Management, Law, Engineering, Medicine and others
- The State Government allotted 500 crore from its own resources
