Odisha CM Launches Web Portals For Student Scholarships Inter-Caste Marriage IncentivesOn 28th October 2020, Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha launched 2 web portals over a virtual platform. The two portals are, Integrated Odisha State Scholarship Portal which provides scholarship to the eligible students and Sumangal Portal provides incentive to inter-caste marriage couples.

Benefit of Integrated Odisha State Scholarship Portal:

i.The Integrated Odisha State Scholarship Portal will provide 21 scholarships offered by 8 state departments.

ii.Around 11 lakh students from Scheduled Tribes(ST), Scheduled Castes(SC), Other Backward Classes, and educationally backward classes will be benefited through this portal.

iii.The portal will administer the professional programs of the various departments like SC and ST department, Higher Education department, School & Mass Education department, Labour & Employee’s State Insurance(ESI) department, Skills Development & Technical Education department and Agriculture department.

iv.The portal is linked with the treasury of the state which will enable the direct credit of the scholarship to the bank accounts of the students.

About Sumangal Portal:

i.The Sumangal Portal was developed by the Scheduled Tribes(ST) and Scheduled Castes(SC) Development Department.

ii.Under the Odisha Right to Public service act 2012, The portal will provide the one time incentives to the inter-caste married couples.

Eligibility:

The valid marriages registered under the Hindu Marriage Act 1995.

The incentive will be provided only for the people getting married for the first time.

Benefits:

The eligible beneficiaries will be granted an incentive of Rs.2.5 lakh within 60 days after applying on the portal.
