NTPC Limited(formerly- National Thermal Power Corporation Limited) wins CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2019 under the category Corporate Excellence for Outstanding Accomplishment. In addition to this, it has also received a Commendation for Significant Achievement in the category of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR).
NTPC’s Initiatives
i.GEM(Girl Empowerment Mission), a 4 weeks residential program is its flagship CSR program. It is institutionalized near its power stations to help school girls from underprivileged backgrounds to support their overall development.
ii.It has initiated Contractors’ Labour Information Management System (CLIMS) to make payment to contract labourers on the last day of the month at project sites.

CII-ITC Sustainability Award was instituted in 2006. It recognises and rewards excellence in businesses that seek ways to be more sustainable and inclusive in their activities.
It is considered to be the most credible platform for sustainability recognition in the country.
