Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 45 highway projects in Madhya Pradesh

Gadkari--inaugurates-&-lays-foundation-stones-of-45-Highway-Projects-in-Madhya-PradeshOn 25th August 2020, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 45 highway projects in Madhya Pradesh (MP) during a virtual event. He also announced that Rs.700 crore from the Central Road Fund (CRF) will be utilised for the road sector of Madhya Pradesh.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh presided over the virtual event.The aim was to complete projects worth Rs 50,000 crore out of Rs 1.25 lakh crore by 2023.

Key People:

Union Ministers, Thawar chand Gehlot and Narendra Singh Tomar, Ministers of State Prahlad Singh Patel, Faggan Singh Kulaste and V K Singh along with other dignitaries participated in the virtual event.

About the Projects:

i.The inaugurated project consists of a road length of around 1361 kilometers(km) with a construction cost of Rs.11427 crore.

ii.The works are started on the 1260 kilometer 8 lane access controlled Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in which 244 km 8-lane will be constructed in MP at a cost of Rs.8214 crore.

iii.The MP sections of this expressway that will pass through Ramganj Mandi, Garoth, Jawra and Ratlam areas of Malwa region, and Thandla (Jhabua) have already been awarded.

iv.The 173 km long 4-lane road that will provide connectivity to the Malwa region from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be awarded by December 2020.

Note:

The current length of the National Highways in MP is 13,248 kilometers.

Advantages:

i.These projects will support the development and enhance the connectivity, convenience and economic growth of MP and its neighbouring states.

ii.These projects will increase the movement of people and goods from MP and also improve the substantially with the states of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh etc.

iii.The construction of these roads will reduce the emission of pollutants by reducing the usage of fuel.

iv.These roads will contribute for a the enhanced road experience by reducing the conjunction in roads and the enroute towns

Key Points:

i.Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also stated that Rs.350 crore worth of proposals may include the proposal from the Members of Parliament(MP) of Madhya Pradesh for the construction of roads in their constituency.

ii.Shivraj Singh Chauhan requested the Union Minister to take up the three road projects of MP (Narmada Expressway, Chambal Expressway (Atal Progressway), and the Ram Vangaman Path).
