On August 14, 2020 National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog)’s Atal Innovation Mission(AIM) in collaboration with National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) has launched Atal Tinkering Lab(ATL) Artificial Intelligence(AI) Step-up module (ATL AI Step Up Module) through ‘ATL AI Modules’ for school students to empower youngest minds and drive innovations in the country to the next level.
i.The module was launched in a virtual platform attended by CEO NITI Aayog Mr Amitabh Kant, Mission Director AIM Mr R Ramanan and NASSCOM President Debjani Ghosh.
ii.The AI Step-up module is expected to drive AI education and innovation to the next level in the young minds in schools across the country.
iii.The AI Step-up module is the second step towards bringing AI into Indian classrooms, after the AI Base module, which was launched in February 2020. The AI Base Module covers the basics of the AI discipline.
AI Step-up Module:
i.The Step-up module comprises a comprehensive set of learn it yourself Advanced modules for students who wish to expand the knowledge base after becoming familiar with basics of AI discipline.
ii.The Module also contains hands-on projects and activities, which encourage a deeper understanding of AI which will be vital in applying AI in the real world.
iii.It is designed in a graphical manner which will be easily understandable for students from both Urban and Rural areas.
iv.The step-up module requires no previous knowledge and introduces concepts to students from the basics using interactive tools and activities to keep their attention undivided.
v.Various academic institutions including IITs have contributed in development of these modules.
ATL AI Base Module:
The AI base module contains activities, videos and experiments to enable students to work through and learn concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and covering the basics of AI discipline for students.
Atal Innovation Mission (AIM):
AIM is Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Its objective is to develop new programs for fostering innovation in different sectors and to create an umbrella structure to oversee the innovation ecosystem of the country.
