On 19th October, 2020 National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog launched First of its Kind, Frontier Technologies Cloud Innovation Center (CIC) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). CIC will help in addressing societal challenges through digital innovation with focus on agriculture, healthcare and skill development.
The core mission of CIC is to identify and deploy the latest technologies to drive continuous innovation in delivering citizen services.CIC is part of the AWS CIC Global Program.
Key Points:
i.This is the First CIC in India and 12th CIC around the Globe.Â
ii.The Centres will encourage experimentation, continuous innovation, drive work force, skills development with economic benefit.
iii.CIC will identify and prioritize projects, it will collaborate with local leaders, subject matter experts at the state and district level to solve critical societal challenges.Â
iv.Local Enterprises, startups, researchers and universities in India will experiment and build prototypes on AWS cloud.
v.CIC will be great enablers to budding innovators and start-ups, they will help in piloting state-of-the-art, cloud-centric innovations by using Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, blockchain.Â
Cloud Innovation Centers (CIC) Program:
i.The CIC Program offers an opportunity for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), education institutions, and government agencies to collaborate with Public Sector Organizations to test new ideas using the technical expertise of AWS.
ii.The NITI Aayog Frontier Technologies CIC will join the Global Network of AWS public sector cloud innovation centers in Australia, Bahrain, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, and the United States.Â
AWS Cloud Innovation Centers Global Program:
AWS Cloud Innovation Centers Global Program works with government agencies, academic institutions and non-profits to apply design thinking methodology to test new ideas and collaborate on challenges.
