The National Health Authority (NHA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) to strengthen India’s response to the COVID-19 crisis.
- Through the partnership, NHA & IIT Delhi will support innovative solutions, which will cater to the needs and priorities of the AB PM-JAY ecosystem (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya). It will help in adopting health innovations across more than 23,000 PM-JAY empaneled hospitals.
- They will also help in identifying innovative healthcare solutions, and give a platform for various organizations, healthcare networks, innovation incubators, manufacturers to come together to solve complex healthcare challenges in India.
- NHA will act as a technical collaborator on the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-supported SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Financing Facility.
SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Financing Facility
SAMRIDH healthcare is a blended financing facility which will utilize market-based health solutions to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare services for low-income and vulnerable communities, particularly for beneficiaries of AB PM-JAY.
- IIT Delhi is the hosting entity for SAMRIDH, while it is implemented by a Technical Support Unit, managed by IPE Global.
- It has mobilised a capital pool of USD 100 Plus Million to offer both grant and debt financing provision to healthcare enterprises and innovators.
