The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) announced the fourth cycle of National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA) 2021 at an event organised under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to recognize India’s best-performing road assets and toll plazas at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
- Theme of the 2021 awards – Innovation and Excellence in Road Construction
- Aim – To create world-class road infrastructure, highways, toll plazas, expressways, bridges, tunnels every day through new and innovative construction processes along with environmental sustainability.
Highlights:
i.Objective – To encourage companies that deliver the finest quality services during construction, operations & maintenance, innovation, greenery, tolling stages of highway development as well as in the arena of road safety.
ii.The event held several panel discussions, such as Frontiers in road safety, Innovative Technologies for Slope Stabilisation in Hill Roads, Design of Special Structures, Innovative Pavement Materials, Design of Road and Geotechnical Engineering (The International Perspective) and Innovations in Geospatial Technology.
Process:
i.Out of 122 nominations received, 89 were found to be valid and among them, 58 nominations were shortlisted. A total of 37 nominations were selected for Field Assessment (1st round).
ii.Finally 13 nominations were selected for the award by a Jury headed by Amitabh Kant, CEO of Niti Aayog with members consisting of former Secretary (Govt of India) K.C. Mishra, former DG Roads & Special Secretary Shri A.V. Sinha and Vice President Corporate Affairs, Ola Electric Mobility Pvt Ltd Shri B.C. Datta.

About National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA):
