National Good Governance Day - December 25 2022Good Governance Day, also known as Sushasan Diwas in Hindi, is annually observed across India on 25th December to mark the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister (PM) Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The day also aims to create awareness of accountability and administration of government among the people.

25th December 2022 marks the 98th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

  • This day also ensures that residents are treated fairly by the government and they receive advantages of various government services.

Background:
i.In 2014, The Government of India declared the 25th December of every year, the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as Good Governance Day.
ii.The first-ever Good Governance Day was observed on 25th December 2014.

Good Governance Week 2022 – 19th- 25th December: 

It should be noted that the Good Governance Week celebrations were observed from 19-25 December 2022 with a nationwide launch of “PrashasanGaon Ki Ore” campaign on 19th December, 2022.

About Atal Bihari Vajpayee:

i.Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior, present-day Madhya Pradesh (MP).

ii.He was the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to have become India’s Prime Minister (PM).

iii.He served three terms as the PM of India, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, followed by a full term from 1999 to 2004.

iv.He is an awardee of Bharat Ratna (Highest Civilian Honour in India) in 2015,  and Padma Vibhushan in 1992.

Launch of Programs:

To mark this occasion, Minister of State (MoS) for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh launched the revamped Probity Portal, e-HRMS (Human Resource Management System) 2.0 Portal, Mobile Application of iGoTKarmayogi Portal by Karmayogi Bharat, and e-Books on major initiatives and achievements of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

  • An e-book compiling major reforms and achievements of DoP&T from 2014 to 2022 has been prepared.

About Revamped e-HRMS 2.0 Portal:

It is the first digital system in Govt. of India to provide end-to-end HR (Human Resource) Services in a digital mode to the employees which include Transfers (Rotation/Mutual), Deputation, APAR, IPR, iGOT Trainings, Vigilance Status, Deputation Opportunities, Service Book and other basic HR Services like Leave, Tour, Reimbursements etc.

About Mobile Application of iGoTKarmayogi Portal by Karmayogi Bharat:

It aims to create professional, well-trained and future-ready civil service for India. The iGOT Karmayogi platform is envisaged as a democratised, competency driven solution space that all of the government can access to enhance their execution capabilities.

  • The app and the platform will allow all government servants, at multiple levels, to undergo continuous training, depending on their domain areas.
  • It will provide anytime-anywhere-any-device learning to train about 2 crores users.
