Virtual Agri-hackathon Atmanirbhar Krishi inaugurated

On December 31, 2020 Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare inaugurated the Virtual Agri India hackathon 2020 in New Delhi.

i.This 2 month event is 1st of its kind and also the largest virtual event in Indian agriculture history.

ii.The hackathon is organised by Pusa Krishi, ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) & Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.

This hackathon is organized by taking into consideration the vision of PM to introduce new-age technology and innovations in agriculture

Gist about Agri India Hackathon:

The Agri India Hackathon is divided into 2 parts:

Competition 

i.The application of the hackathon was made live on MyGov.in, it will remain open till January 20, 2021.

ii.The 24 winners will get a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with incubation support,

pre-seed funding of Rs 5 lakhs and seed stage funding of Rs 25 lakhs at any one of the 29 RABIs, subject to assessment by the independent RABI.

iii.The winners will also have the opportunity of field trial, access technology validation & various other benefits.

Agri India Meets

It is a free and open online event for 2 months where more than 40 speakers will discuss the present & future of agriculture.

i.It will create dialogues, and accelerate innovations in agriculture.

ii.It will unite the important stakeholders from industry & government  with India’s young bright minds, creative start-ups and smart innovators who will build new, fast and frugal solutions to tackle the recent problems.

iii.It helps to achieve the goal of doubling the farmer’s income, that will successively create more growth opportunities for India.

Pusa Krishi is a special purpose initiative to encourage and support agriculture-focused startups at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi.

Union Minister for Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated the Grand Finale virtually in New Delhi. The Grand Finale was conducted online from 1st to 3rd August, 2020 over a specially-built advanced platform.
