Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India visited Siachen Glacier for a briefing during the hindu’s grand diwali festival. The siachen glacier is considered to house the world’s highest battlefield. He is the second Indian Prime Minister to visit Siachen glacier after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who visited in 2005.
Later Narendra Modi travelled to the kashmir valley to review the relief measures undertaken for the kashmir floods. He met with officials and aid workers to access the situation. After accessing the measures, Modi announced 7.5 billion rupees ($120 million) relief package for flood-hit Kashmir. This announcement is the second package as he has already announced last month 10 billion rupees for the state.
