Minister of Urban Development M.Venkaiah Naidu released the results of “Swachh Survekshan-2016” of 73 major cities that were surveyed for sanitation last month.
- As per results, Mysuru led the list as the cleanest city in the country while Dhanbad has been ranked at the bottom.

- Out of 73 cities surveyed, 32 have improved ranks since the last survey including 17 from the North. 6 from the West, 5 from the South and 2 each from the East and North-East.
About Swachh Bharat campaign
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a national campaign by the Government of India, covering 4,041 statutory cities and towns, to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country.
- It was launched by the PM Narendra Modi.
- Swachh Bharat Abhiyan replaced Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA).
