Mumbai U 23 team clinched CK Nayudu Trophy 2015-16 title ,by beating Madhya Pradesh by virtue of taking first innings lead at the MPCA Stadium in Indore
- This title comes after Mumbai senior team clinched their 41st Ranchi Trophy title against Saurashtra in Pune.
- By this the winning team became richer by Rs. 20 lakh for winning CK Nayudu trophy, Mumbai team carried their bat to a tall score of 577 to which Madhya Pradesh replied with 422 all out before the game into a tame dram on final day.
- Jay Bista from Mumbai starred with superb 217 and Kerkar scored 102 in the high octane game.
- IDBI Federal Life Insurance awards the Mumbai Team with a cash prize of Rs. 20 Lakh.
CK Nayudu Trophy:
- CK Nayudu (Cottari Kanakaiya Nayudu) born on October 31 1895 in Maharashtra.
- He was the first captain of the Indian Cricket Team in Test Matches.
- Nayudu awarded with third highest civilian honor of Padma Bhushan by Indian Government in 1985.
- He headed the batting averages for all matches with 59 and took 79 wickets.
- Nayudu played his last Ranchi trophy match for UP in the year 1957 at the age of 62 wherein he made 52 runs, he died in 1967 in Indore.
- CK nayudu Trophy named after him.
