The Minister of State (MoS) Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) paid a three day visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) from January 19, 2021 to January 21, 2021 to focus on welfare of Indian workers in UAE. He landed at the Abu Dhabi International Airport where he was received by Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Pavan Kapoor.
- His visit followed the Union Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s visit to the UAE in November 2020.
Key Highlights:
–He met with the Indian community leaders to understand the issues faced by the expatriates including issues in getting ICA approval for the return of expats stuck back home and exemption from quarantine for vaccine recipients flying to India.
— He also visited Gulf medical University in Thumbay Medicity in Ajman, UAE where he appreciated the hardwork of doctors during pandemic.
–He also holds talks with the UAE side on various bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.
—India and the UAE have maintained close coordination during the COVID-19 pandemic which includes successful functioning of air bubble arrangement.

He inaugurated the classes that offer basic lessons for improving Indian workers’ knowledge in English and Arabic languages as well as computer skills in the premises of the Delhi Private School (DPS) in Jebel Ali.
- Apart from blue-collar workers with companies, the free classes will also be provided Indian women in distress sheltered by the Indian Consulate in Dubai.
- In this regard, three classrooms at the DPS school have been dedicated to provide classes.
