Rajeev Chandrasekhar Launches National Strategy on Blockchain

On 3rd December 2021, while celebrating Azadi Ka Digital Mahotsav, the Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics and Information Technology (IT) & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, released the National Strategy on Blockchain.

  • National Strategy on Blockchain was formulated by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) to create trusted digital platforms through shared Blockchain infrastructure.

Key Points:

i.It will promote research and development, innovation, technology and application development and facilitate the state of the art, transparent, secure and trusted digital service delivery to citizens and businesses.

ii.Blockchain is an apt technology for e-Governance solutions and other domains as it provides the required security and privacy, and allows only trusted entities with privileges to record and access details in an accountable manner.

iii.The strategy document would provide the guidance for creating a nationwide ecosystem for creating the National Blockchain Platform and the development of relevant applications.

-MoS E&IT launches India’s 1st indigenous server RUDRA

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS E&IT also launched India’s 1st indigenous Server, RUDRA, which was developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) under the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM) supported by MeiTY and DST (Department of Science & Technology).

i.RUDRA is a dense form factor server with a centralized power supply in half-width 1U and 2 U form factors with computing power ranging from 3.6 T1 to 34 T1.

ii.The server design can be used for manufacturing classical standalone commercial servers and also as building blocks for building large supercomputing systems of tens of petaflops of computing performance

iii.HPC (High-performance computing) systems, Hyperscale Data Centres, Edge Computing, Banking & Commerce, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas Industry, Healthcare, Education, Entertainment Industry, Defence, and National Security will be benefited through RUDRA.

iv.C-DAC is collaborating with Intel, NVIDIA (technology partners), and ATOS (manufacturing partner).

v.MoS, Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced the top 10 winning teams of the Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge, which was announced in August 2020 to provide further thrust to the Start-up, innovation and research in India.

vi.Under the aegis of Microprocessor Development Programme of MeitY, a power-pack indigenously developed processors such as SHAKTI (by IIT Madras) and VEGA (by C-DAC) has been developed from scratch using Open-Source Architecture.
