On the occasion of the 61st National Maritime Day (5th April 2024), the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) awarded the Sagar Samman Awards acknowledging exemplary contributions within the maritime sector.
- The award was presented during the event organised by the National Maritime Day Celebrations (NMDC) Central Committee at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Nariman Point, Mumbai, Maharashtra.
- The observance of National Maritime Day 2024 was centred around the theme “Sustainable Shipping: Opportunities and Challenges”.

About National Maritime Day:
National Maritime Day is annually observed across India on 5th April to commemorate the maiden voyage of the first Indian-owned vessel “S S Loyalty” from Mumbai to London in 1919.
