MoC&I Conferred National ODOP Awards 2024; AP Secured 10 Awards

In July 2025, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) organised the National One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024 in New Delhi (Delhi).

  • The awards recognise the exemplary efforts of States and Union Territories (UTs), Districts, and Indian Missions Abroad in supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat through the ODOP initiative.
  • The event was graced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, MoC&I; Union Minister of State (MoS) Jitin Prasada, MoC&I; and Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister (CM) of Delhi.

About ODOP Awards 2024:

i.The awards honoured outstanding contributions in the fields of handlooms, handicrafts, and agriculture.

ii.A total of 34 winners were honoured under the second edition of the ODOP Awards, across three categories: Districts, States and UTs, and Indian Missions Abroad (through virtual participation).

iii.The ODOP Awards 2024 received 641 applications via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal between 1 April and 11 June 2024, comprising 587 entries from districts, 31 from States/UTs, and 23 from Indian Missions abroad.

iv.Andhra Pradesh (AP) emerged as a top performer, clinching 10 awards, including seven district-level recognitions.

Key Highlights:

i.Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that new guidelines will soon be issued to promote first-time exporters, explore new markets, and introduce new products under ODOP.

ii.He also launched the Handbook for ODOP Awards 2025 and the ODOP Best Practices Compendium.

iii.He also highlighted efforts like Prime Minister (PM) Ekta Malls in 27 states, and ODOP Walls in international cities such as Singapore, New York (United States of America, USA), Vancouver (Canada), Milan (Italy), Kuwait, Bahrain, and Japan, to boost global outreach.

iv.He noted India’s current status as the world’s fastest-growing large economy, projected to become the third-largest by 2027.

About ODOP Initiative:

i.The ODOP initiative, launched by the DPIIT, promotes balanced regional development by selecting and branding a unique product from each district. It focuses on sectors such as agriculture, food processing, handlooms, and handicrafts, aiming to enhance domestic and international competitiveness.

  • Over 1,200 unique products from over 750 districts have been recognised under ODOP.
  • Bihar achieved 100% ODOP coverage in all 38 districts, earning the Category A status.
