The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, a major global event, was held from March 3 to 6, 2025, at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain, bringing together over 101,000 attendees, more than 2,700 exhibitors, and representatives from over 200 countries to showcase advancements in technology. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ministry of Communication (MoC) represented India at the event.
- The theme of the event was “Converge. Connect. Create.” The key areas of discussion include 5G Inside (Fifth Generation Inside), AI+ (Artificial Intelligence Plus), Connect X, Enterprise Re-invented, Game Changers, and Digital Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA).

India’s Telecom Innovations at MWC 2025:
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia officially inaugurated the Bharat Pavilion at the MWC 2025 in Spain. He announced that the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC), Asia’s largest digital technology forum is set to take place in New Delhi(Delhi) from 8th – 11th October 2025.
- This pavilion, set up by the Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) based in New Delhi, Delhi with support from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), operating under MoC, featured 38 Indian telecom manufacturers.
i.He addressed key sessions, including ‘Global Tech Governance: Rising to the Challenge’ and ‘Balancing Innovation & Regulation: Global Perspectives on Telecom Policy.
ii.Additionally, he launched VVDN Technologies Private Limited’s AI-powered Wi-Fi 7 (Wireless Fidelity) Technology, which has been developed and manufactured at VVDN’s headquarter in Gurugram, Haryana.
30th Global Mobile(GLOMO) Awards :
i.Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., headquartered in California, the United States of America (USA), received two GLOMO Awards .
- The company won the “Smartphone of the Year” award for its Pixel 9 Pro (Electronic Device).
- Additionally, Google Gemini received the “Breakthrough Device Innovation” award, a category that spans both software and hardware, emphasizing the essential blend required for AI advancements.
ii.Several Chinese companies, including Huawei, China Mobile, ZTE, and Xiaomi, won awards in different categories at MWC 2025.
- China Mobile Qinghai and Huawei received the “Best Mobile Innovation for Emerging Markets” award for their RuralStar Plus solution, a joint innovation aimed at improving connectivity in remote areas.
- Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Company Limited (ZTE) Received the Groupe Spécial Mobile Association (GSMA) Foundry Innovation Award for its Minimalist Private 5G for Entertainment.
- Xiaomi 15 Ultra won in the “Best in Show” category.
Other Points:
i.At MWC 2025, Shenzhen, China based Tecno mobile company, gained attention at its TECNO AI Ecosystem Product Launch event.
- The company introduced its practical AI strategy by unveiling the CAMON 40 smartphone series, TECNO AI Glasses Pro, and the MEGABOOK S14 laptop.
ii.Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), an American company, is collaborating with Cisco, Nokia, and Jio Platforms to develop the Open Telecom AI Platform.
iii.Wipro Limited,an Indian technology services company, has introduced TelcoAI360 to improve telecom operations using artificial intelligence.
iv.Tencent Cloud based in China launched its Super Application (app) as a Service (TCSAS), at MWC 2025, designed to help businesses create integrated digital ecosystems using super-app strategies.
