On 7th April 2021, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) of the Ministry of AYUSH signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying for formulating new drugs using medicinal herbs for the use of veterinary science.
Signatories – Dr JLN Sastry, Chief Executive Officer of NMPB & Upamanyu Basu, the Joint Secretary of Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
The Ministry of AYUSH will support Department of Animal Husbandry for developing curriculum and courses for AYUSH herbal veterinary education programs.
Features of the MoU:
i.Scientific research will be conducted in collaboration with Veterinary Colleges and ICAR research institutes on the utility of Medicinal Plants.
ii.Exploring potential medicinal plants species for enhancing its cultivation, preservation and conservation.
iii.Conducting awareness programs among the agro-farmers & dairy-farmers.
