The President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, inaugurated advanced digital cobalt therapy machine “Bhabhatron-II” for cancer treatment at the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona Hospital (HJRA) in Antananarivo in the presence of India’s Ambassador to Madagascar Abhay Kumar.
- It should be noted that Bhabhatron-II is donated by India to Madagascar under the cooperation of the health sector. It is developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).
- This donation also caters to the Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s vision of SAGAR i.e. Security and Growth for All in the Indian Ocean Region.
Key Points:
–The machine was donated on the lines of the commitment made during the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to Madagascar in March 2018.
–The machine has the capacity to treat 50 patients per day.
