According to the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich list released by Hurun India and M3M India, Gautam Adani has dropped 11 places to the 23rd rank among global billionaires. According to the report, Gautam Adani saw a 35% decline in wealth year-on-year. He lost Rs 3,000 crore every week over the last year.
- Bernard Arnault, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton(known as LVMH), which owns fashion brands including Sephora and Louis Vitton, tops the list as the Richest Person in the World with a worth of USD 202 billion.
- Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and Twitter, with a total wealth of USD 157 billion, is number two on the list.
Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), ranked 9th(globally) is the only Indian to feature in the World’s top 10 billionaires list.
- He has dethroned Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani to become Asia’s as well as India’s richest man with a wealth of USD 82 billion.
- Gautam Adani is now ranked 3rd among Asia’s richest. China’s Zhong Shanshan (YST) is now Asia’s 2nd richest businessman.

i. The number of billionaires on 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List decreased to 3,112 from 3,384 the previous year(2022), representing 2,356 businesses and 69 nations.
ii. Asia, with 57% of the World’s population, accounted for 59% of new faces, 49% of Billionaires and 39% of the wealth.
iii. North America and Europe, with 15% of the World population, accounted for 37% of new faces, 46% of billionaires and 57% of total wealth.
iv. China leads the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List followed by the USA.
- China and the USA have 53% of all billionaires globally. With 187 billionaires, India is in 3rd place, down 28; with 144 billionaires, Germany has passed the UK to take 4th place.

i.Cyrus Poonawalla, the founder of Serum Institute of India, ranked 46th globally, is the richest billionaire in the healthcare sector in 2022. He is the 3rd richest billionaire in India.
ii. Shiv Nadar and family, ranked 50th Globally with a net worth of USD 26 billion is the 4th Richest in India, followed by Lakshmi Mittal (global rank 76) at 5th position with a net worth valued at USD 20 billion.
iii. Other Indian billionaires on the 2023 list include SP Hinduja and family(76th); Dilip Shanghvi and family(98th); Radhakishan Damani and family(107th); Kumar Mangalam Birla and family(135th); and banker Uday Kotak(135th).
