Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara became the second batsman to cross 14,000 runs in One Day International (ODI) cricket after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Till now Sangakkara scored 14,065 runs in 402 ODIs (Sachin Tendulkar – 18,426 runs – 463 ODIs). He became the first Sri Lankan batsman to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs. He is also the first batsman to score three consecutive hundreds in World Cup matches. Sangakkara scored his 23rd ODI century against England in just 70 balls.
Sangakkara announced that he will retire from test cricket by the end of August 2015 (After India-Sri Lanka 3 match test series). He has already announced his retirement from ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals. He will quit ODI cricket post the ongoing World Cup.
