Haryana topped the medal tally with 105 medals (40 gold, 39 silver, and 26 bronze) in the inaugural edition of the Khelo India Para Games 2023 held in New Delhi, Delhi from 10th – 17th December 2023.
- Uttar Pradesh finished second in the medals table with 62 medals (25 gold, 23 silver, and 14 bronze) while Tamil Nadu finished third with 42 medals (20 gold, 8 silver, and 14 bronze).

Mascot: ‘Ujjwala’, a sparrow, reminds strength comes in many forms and the human spirit is unbreakable.
Key Points:
i.Sheetal Devi (Jammu & Kashmir) won a gold medal in the open category of compound archery event.
- She is the only current female international archer to shoot with her feet.
- Previously she won two gold and a silver in 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games held in 2023.
ii.The 2021 Arjuna Awardee Bhavina Patel (Gujarat) won a gold medal in the Women’s Singles – Class 4 Table Tennis event.
iii. Pranav Soorma(Haryana) breaks the Asian record in the club throw event with 33.54 metres which surpassed Indian player Dharambir’s previous record throw of 31.09m.
- He won the gold medal in the men’s F51 category club throw event.
iv.The inaugural Khelo India Para Games was organized at three venues in Delhi – Indira Gandhi Stadium, JawaharLal Nehru Stadium and Karni Singh Shooting Range.
About Khelo India Para Games:
i.Khelo India Para Games 2023 featured 7 sports disciplines: Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis, Para Powerlifting, CP Football, and Para Shooting.
- It witnessed the participation of 1500 athletes from 28 states and 8 Union Territories(UT).
ii.The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) has organized five Khelo India Youth Games (2018,2019,2020,2021, & 2022), three Khelo India University Games (2020,2021 & 2022), three Khelo India Winter Games(2020,2021 & 2022), and one Khelo India Para Games (2023) under the ‘Khelo India – National Programme for Development of Sports’ , launched in 2017.
